Belly laughs

Lucy was 4 months old on December 10th and I took her last week for her well visit.  She weighed in at 14 lbs 13 ozs. and it 25 in long.  She is very healthy and happy.  Later that night she rolled over from her belly to her back.  She also found her thumb last week and joined in the family tradition of thumb sucking.  She has started to babble and coo a lot more and one day last week she went into hysterics while I was playing with Charlie and a blanket.  I would put the blanket over Charlie's head and go "whoo" she thought it was hilarious.   This past Friday I was in the grocery store with her and she was talking away and a stranger approached me to tell me she was such a happy baby and that she could hear her 2 aisles over.

In other news, we are getting all ready for Christmas and have lots of baked goods in the house.   This has not been good for my weight watchers at all.   I really need a fresh start next week.

Thank you Mommy

I heard these words for the first time today from Rory.  He thanked me for wiping his buggers and it was music to my ears.   The boys are talking so much and understanding commands.  I love listening to them talk.  Charlie's new thing is to refer to everything as "over there" but it sounds like "obba daya".   Ron and I think it's so cute we are always asking him where things are.

Last night we ate dinner, got the kids dressed and headed out to a local farm that does an amazing Christmas display.   When you arrive you pay $5 per car and tune your radio to 107.9 and head into the mile long maze of lights and inflatable ornaments.   The boys loved it and Charlie cried when we pulled out.  We drove around a little more and looked at more lights around the neighborhood.  It was my favorite thing to do around the holidays and I am so excited that the boys are old enough to enjoy the lights as well.

In other news, Miss Lucy is refusing to nap and it's making me crazy.  Sometimes I can get her settled in the swing for a snooze, but I really need to work on getting her to take a nap in her crib.

I secured the boys spots in daycare beginning on January 30th.   The reality hit me today that once my maternity leave is over barring any illness (please God) I will never have more than a week home with my babies and that makes me so sad.  I just try to get through it by telling myself it's worth it!

The case of the fallen tv

It could have been every parents worst nightmare, thankfully it wasn't.   Yesterday in the few minutes I had turned my back to make coffee the twins managed to push the close to 200 lb. tv over onto the floor.   I heard a loud bang and the dreaded delayed cry and ran into the playroom to find Rory standing on the tv cabinet and Charlie lying on the floor next to the overturned tv crying.   I could see a large bruise on his head and he was holding his side so I quickly ripped his clothes off to find a small puncture wound on his side and some red bruising.   Thank God my Dad had stopped by to play with the boys and I rushed Charlie to the doctor without having to bring all 3 kids.  Charlie was in shock just from fright, but I thought he had internal injuries and was in real shock.  I drove like a lunatic honking my horn and flashing my lights to pass people and even ran a red light.  Thank God he was just fine and we actually think he wasn't hit by the tv, but was also on the cabinet pushing it and fell on top of it.  Never a dull moment, but none the less we are counting our blessings.  By far the scariest moment I have experienced as a Mother to date.

In other news, Lucy is 4 moths old today.  To celebrate (well not really to celebrate as we were going anyway :) we took the family to breakfast with Santa or as the boys like to call him "Ass-a Claus".   It was going very well until some additional characters came out like Alvin the Chipmunk, Frosty the Snowman and Tony the Tiger (not exactly sure why Tony was there).  Charlie was absolutely terrified of them so after lots of yelling "go home" "all done" and "bye-byes" we decided not to torture him any longer and head home.  There is always next year :)

The Community Shower

I started this blog so I could capture my thoughts as my kids grow up.  I've put a lot of thought into my first post and therefore have not posted so I guess it's time to just do what I set out to do and just write something.  So here it goes.   I'm officially a blogger!

Everyone in this house is sick and has been for about a month.  The boys have such terrible congestion that I thought it would be a good idea to take them into the shower with me.  We have a small shower stall so I was able to keep them contained and the shampoo and conditioner provided tons of entertainment.   It was fun to play with them in the water and it did help clear the congestion.

In other exciting news Lucy found her thumb!   She can't get enough of it now and we can't get enough of watching her suck it.  She is also trying really hard to roll over and I predict will be able to in a month or so.

Well, that's it my first post is complete.
